My Chemical Romance Biography

“My Chemical Romance” (also known as My Chem or MCR) is an American rock band from New Jersey. Formed in 2001, the band consist of Gerard Way (lead vocals), Mikey Way (bass), Bob Bryar (drums), Frank Iero (rhythm guitar), and Ray Toro (lead guitar).

“MCR” was formed by Gerard Way and ex-drummer Matt Pelissier. Gerard wrote a song named “Skylines and Turnstiles”, which was dedicated to the attacks of the 11/9/2001. That influenced to make a band so he called Ray Toro (lead guitar) because Gerard could sing but not play the guitar.

Mikey Way brother of Gerard loved the demo so much that he started to learn the bass.

“MCR” was signed with Eyeball Records and play in the same room as “Pencey Pop” and “Thursday”. It was there were the band meet Frank Iero (rhythm guitar), the lead vocalist and guitarist for Panky Prep. After that Pency Prep broke up in 2001 or 2002, Frank became a guitarist for MCR, just days before the band’s albums was recorded. Frank said, “That he was happy with MCR”.

Just three months after the formation of the band they record their first album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love” in 2002 with Eyeball Records. When the band finished their first album they started to work in the second album they started to work in the second album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”, that was sell in 2004.

During that time the band replace their drummer, Matt Pelissier with Bob Bryar, because Matt do a lot of mistakes during the presentation and have a fight with Ray Toro. On March 21, 2006, a 2DVD/1CD set entitled Life on the Murder Scene was realized. It includes one DVD chronicling the band’s history, and a second DVD with music videos.

On October 23, 2006 MCR take out their forth album “The Black Parade”. When the band was making the video of “Welcome to the Black Parade”, Gerard Way and Bob Bryar were injured. Gerard suffered a burn to the leg and the torn ligaments in his ankle and Bob a staph infection that need constant monitoring in the hospital. That make that the band cancel a couple of shows.
